Jane Danoczi, a Senior Process Engineer for SRC's Mining and Energy Division, is on one of six teams selected for the finals of the Crush It! Challenge. The competition, organized by Natural Resources Canada and Goldcorp, challenges teams to come up with solutions for improving efficiency and reducing the environmental impact of rock crushing and grinding.
Danoczi’s team, led by Erin Bobicki, an Assistant Professor in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto, will present their project entitled “Combined Microwave-Assisted Comminution and Sorting for Energy Reduction in Mineral Processing” at the #DisruptMining event at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention on March 3rd in Toronto. Danoczi brings her expertise in microwaves for mineral processing applications, in collaboration with Nathan Peter and Dave Williams (SRC Development Engineering and Manufacturing) who will assist with the development and deployment of microwave sensors for the sorting component of the project.

As finalists, the team was awarded $800,000 to to build a prototype of their idea.
